satisfied with the failed testing of America’s missile shield on our
own soil, we have elected to install it on the soil of our European
NATO allies.

Ah, France. Home to fine wines, great food, occasional intolerance of
nations more powerful than themselves, beautiful countryside, an ocean
on one side, a sea on the other. Inventor of the arched eyebrow, Edith
Piaf, the aqualung and bicycle. We may forgive them the hot air balloon
and French politics.

Brian Williams is the news anchor and (apparently) news editor over at MSNBC. For four days I was unable to bring up Countdown, Tucker, Scarborough Country or Hardball. That portion of the site was subsumed with the Korean maniac who murdered 32 students at Virginia Tech.

Earlier in the week, Blackberry was down for the better part of a
day and it was national news. The outage was said to affect over 80% of
large companies in the U.S. Eight million subscribers had to
actually talk to someone during the outage. It is reported, but not
substantiated, that several people actually paid attention during
company staff meetings.

As we get poorer, the best we seem able to do is take a spiritual
attitude toward the increasing numbers of Americans living at or near
the poverty level. Religion has always espoused the argument that the
disadvantaged should be meek, that their reward lies in the hereafter.
That’s an argument of the privileged, of course and you don’t see the
poor in the front pew at any church I ever attended.
